Well I stayed in town this weekend because my uncle was having a surprise 70th birthday party. A great time was had by all.
What is new and improved you ask? Well I got a hand-held GPS unit about a month or so ago and have been marking the spots where I go camping. I also started messing around with Google Earth and found that it will take you almost right to the spot or at least the gate to the campground.
The imagery isn't as clear as the urban areas but I think with time that will improve. I also picked up a book earlier this week that lists a few hundred backcountry adventures for Northern California and I will start sharing them in the next few weeks.
What is in the works you ask? Well next weekend I am taking my nephew Jay to Hollister Hills because I promised him a trip to a 4x4 area last Xmas and the weather was terrible. He was the guy fishing around Xmas for those of you that follow my blog. My cousin Marie and her her husband Nathan plan on joining us with some of their friends.
Well here are the co-ordinates for the Google Earth search:
Hollister Hills 36 45.503' N 121 24.391' W
Indian Valey 39 04.184'N 122 30.493' W
Lake Somona 38 42.880' N 123 03.648' W
Turlock Lake 37 37.864' N 120 35.009' W
You should be able to copy and paste the numbers into Google Earth and get a visual of where I have camped.
I hope everyone has a great week and will return next week.
