Mendocino National Forest 02/25/07

Well we had another wonderful weekend out in the woods. The journey started at Walker Ridge Rd and Hwy 20. While I didn't have a particlar place I was looking for I did notice that if you are on BLM land they don't have any signs. I went past Bartlett Springs which was a hotel spa from the 1880's. I then went on a spur that said it wasn't maintained in the winter and may be impassible. After going through a few creeks we came up to one where I couldn't see the other side in the dark. I decided to camp out there for the rest of the night. Here are a couple of pictures.

Here is a picture of a 6'4" guy trying to sleep in the cab of a Chevy truck.

This is a better picture of the creek in the morning.

The burb is ready to go.

Me trying to watch the road.

Some pictures in route.

Hitting the snow line.

Finally a road sign.

Back on the trail

The snow is starting to get deep.

Hey clean the window so we can see.

I am starting to wonder if I got over my head.

Looking at my map.

Decided to keep on going.

Keeping my eyes on the so called road.

Going through the 6-8" drifts.

Here are a few videos of the trip so far.

Finally made it to camp.

Home sweet home

Looking for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

The best part of finally making camp is the food.

Getting the heat on the steaks.

What a wonderful dinner.

I hope you had some fun sharing my weekend. It looks like I had some trouble posting the video. I will try it again here.

Stoneyford 02/19/07

Well the place this weekend was 39 17.199' N 122 34.621' W I had to go to a seminar on Friday so we got a late start but had an extra day. I have been to this place before and the crowds sort of surprised me.

I think some of the guys on the motorcycles had their sails deflated when they saw the burb take the trail with ease.

As usual the food was good.

I have also tried to include a link to a downhill run. If you are on dial-up you may want to pass it by but I will try to include more of them in the future.

I am impressed with the new camping cottage. It does a good job of keeping the condesation out. I just wish it had more than one door.

Well on to the pictures. I do hope you enjoy them.

Here is the Google Earth picture of the campsite.

Here is the link to the downhill adventure. The ride

Thanks again for stopping by to visit my spot.
